Dawn Dickerson (she/her), M.Ed, IBCLC, RYT, CBE (BFW), CD
Dawn Dickerson is the owner of Mamas & Milk, supporting families on their journey through pregnancy, birth and infant feeding. Dawn has been an educator for two decades with a Masters in Education (M.Ed.) and multiple-subject teaching credential from Antioch University. After the birth of her first child, she knew that working with people during pregnancy and postpartum was what she was meant to do. She became a yoga instructor (RYT), certified in prenatal yoga with Jane Austen in San Francisco in 2009. She also became a birth doula (CD) in 2009 because all her favorite prenatal yoga instructors were doulas, and she accidentally fell in love with birth. She became a Certified Lactation Educator and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) through UCSD in 2011.
A life-long learner, she has extended her education through various workshops, trainings, and certifications including Therapeutic Breast Massage for Lactation, Oral Rehabilitation for Tongue Tie, Rhythmic Movement Training, Infant Reflexes, and Birth Story Listening. She completed her years-long journey to become certified as a Birthing From Within Childbirth Mentor (CBE (BFW)), the teachings of which are infused into all her work with parents and babies. Dawn lives in San Diego with her family. When she is not teaching and helping parents feed their babies, she is usually building with blocks, playing games, having adventures, and reading with her two boys. She also enjoys traveling, practicing yoga, cooking, painting, and the ocean.
